Junita’s inspiration for the floral paintings showing in her solo art exhibition “For the Love of Flowers” at Old Schoolhouse Gallery in Cleveland this October, comes from her Mums’ wild tropical gardens, Claude Monets’ garden and waterlily pond at his home in Giverny France, which Junita was lucky enough to visit in 2019 pre the Covid pandemic, to the lovely flower markets in Melbourne and London and the bush near her home on the beautiful Redlands Coast.
Junita’s love of flowers, colour and textures are what moved her to start painting, and her very first series of three paintings were of blue gingers growing in her Mums’ Garden.
Junita works in all mediums, oils, acrylics, watercolours, inks and mixed media and they are all represented in her ‘For Love of Flowers’ exhibition. The exhibition is full of variety, including experimentation with fabrics as well as a richly textured and inked rose bouquet painting influenced by Art Nouveau style.
Junita has included some of her favourite artworks, from delicate watercolours on canvas, to brightly coloured, inked and textured paintings - something for everyone.
Meet the Artist, Junita at a morning tea on the first Thursday of the exhibition from 10.30am – All welcome
